Netgear Brings FLAC and 1080p To The EVA800.

It’s that time of year again, when companies start releasing sneak peeks of up and coming products as well as products that will never see any more action than the floor of a convention center. With CES 2007 just getting started new product sightings are getting more common. One such product is Netgear’s EVA800. The EVA800 is a connected Digital Entertainer HD device that is the successor to the EVA700 which saw a delayed release and very little marketing.. This new model has a host of interesting features including the ability to stream 1080p content from your network using an 802.11n Wifi connection as well as through the HDMI port, access to online YouTube content, direct Ipod connection and the ability to play BitTorrent downloads. Supported audio formats include MP3, WAV, WMA, M4A, AAC, AC3, FLAC as well as audio files downloaded from the iTunes store and supported video formats include MPEG1/2/4, WMV, XviD and H.264.
Maybe sometime in the future I will actually get to go to CES 2007 and be able to ask the vendors more detailed questions about lossless audio support of there products. Until then we will happily ride on the coattails of others.
