Rio Karma Reborn?

Trekstor Flash Site

The Trekstor Vibez is finally available and dapreview.net has a hands on review of the device. They also reveal some interesting history on the origins of the Trekstor Vibez shown below. The Vibez supports MP3, WMA, WAV, OGG, FLAC as well as WMA DRM 9/10. There is also a new website for the Vibez with a Flash interface with specs, 360 views, videos and more.

“based on the Rio Avalon platform. If you recall, Rio was shut down by parent company DNNA in 2005, before the next-gen Avalon and Karma 2/Carbon C ever went to production. Sigmatel then bought up Rio’s intellectual property so that they could offer the Karma’s software system to ODMs (Original Design Manufacturers) who purchased their chipsets, making it faster and easier to develop a kick-ass DAP. We’re talking about a software platform that developed over the course of 5 years (starting with the Empeg Car Player), with the result being a fantastic GUI and advanced playback features that have yet to be matched.” dapreview.net November 23, 2006
