Max is MAC application that combines the error correcting of cdparanoia with open source formats allowing MAC users to create files in 20 different formats. Formats supported include FLAC, Ogg, Apple Lossless, Speex, AAC to name a few. Freedb is also implemented to retrieve CD information and metadata output is supported for MP3, FLAC, Ogg FLAC, Ogg Vorbis, AAC and Apple Lossless. As an alternative to iTunes limited encoding capabilities Max is worth a look.
