An update to the recently released 1.2.0 has been made available. FLAC 1.2.1 brings a variety of bugs fixes and improvements but the main addition is support for all RIFF/AIFF metadata.

Our host shut down their business and in switching to a new host a few things went wrong. A majority of our readers have stuck with it and for that I have to say thanks! Hopefully the rest of you will find your way back.

For you WavPack users out there, the final WavPack 4.41.0 build was released on May 6th. This new version contains some considerable speed improvements along with fixes.

The latest version of our favorite tagging application has been released. Mp3tag 2.38 has a lot of fixes and some great new features. Some of the most anticipated features include support the latest lossless format TAK, support for importing cover art from the clipboard, displaying of cover art in main window, FLAC cover art support, freedb web search now uses freedb.freedb.org, support loading files and folders using drag and drop. Talkhouse, LLC who are known for there speech activated retrieval system have released a new media player with an interesting feature. The new Talkhouse media player allows users to navigate, manage and player there media files using voice activation. This is accomplished using the space bar so by holding down the space bar the voice activation system is listening to your commands. What grabbed our attention is that this media players supports MP3, WMA, M4A, M4P OGG and FLAC.
They do have a demo version available with the full version costing $25.00. OS support includes Windows XP, Vista, Linux and Mac 10.4 or higher.

Linux/GNU Media Player Supports WavPack MCE + iTunes Tool
I wanted to share an interesting tool that I setup for my sister who is an avid iTunes user but also has a HTPC running Media Center Edition. Until now iTunes content was restricted to iTunes but with this tool iTunes protected content such as movies, music and TV shows can be played through Windows Media Center Edition. MCE Tunes is $14.99 for the standard version and $29.99 for the Pro version but they do provide a free unlimited trial that has all of the features in the Standard version except the Import Artwork Utility.
There most recent version 2.0.1 that was released in the beginning of March added a few very useful features including the ability to send iTunes audio content to a MCE Extender, merging iTunes Playlists and importing artwork.
If you are looking for a way to play your iTunes content in MCE then look no further.
